Get the Sleep You Deserve

man snoring woman awake in bedIf your sleep partner tells you to roll over because you’re snoring or you find yourself tired in the morning due to poor sleep, we want to help. At Premier Dental Group HI, we offer sleep dentistry to provide relief from sleep-related disorder issues such as sleep apnea.

What’s Involved in the Process?

We will give you a sleep questionnaire to complete that Dr. Kai Kawasugi will go over with you. Here are some of the questions that you will be asked:

  • Do you have trouble falling asleep?
  • Do you have trouble staying asleep?
  • Do you wake up feeling unrested?
  • Do you toss and turn in your sleep?
  • Do you snore?
  • Do you wake up with headaches?

Once Dr. Kawasugi reviews your responses to the questions, he will work to find the best course of action for you.

Our Treatment

He will discuss his findings and review with you his suggested treatment plan. By using examples of how other patients have experienced improvement through our care, you will be encouraged to ask questions and take part in deciding your path to better sleep. It is important to understand that while we never guarantee results, we will do our best to help you.

If Dr. Kawasugi feels that you are at risk for sleep apnea, he will ask you to get a sleep study through your physician. After you get the sleep study, he will have you return to the office to review your scores. He will then work with your physician to determine the most appropriate treatment option, whether it’s an oral appliance or a CPAP machine. He may refer you to an ENT if, for instance, you have trouble breathing through your nose.

Oral Appliance Therapy

Through the use of a dental device, we aim to increase the airway potential you have, so you receive more oxygen and enjoy a higher quality of sleep. An oral appliance opens up the airways by bringing the lower jaw down and forward. This action opens up the airways and also allows the tongue to come out and away, so it’s not pushed toward the back of the throat and constricting the airway.

Health Issues Associated with Poor Sleep

Did you know that many health issues are linked to a lack of adequate sleep? Inadequate sleep can lead to a decrease in the amount of oxygen in the blood. As a result, there can be an increase in the level of stress on the heart that then boosts the risk for heart attack, high blood pressure and stroke. Chronic pain and depression also can result if you don’t get enough sleep.

We want to help you put to bed your sleep-related disorder through our effective treatment. Contact us today to book an appointment!
